Race Information
Mareeba Shire’s Barron River Challenge will have its 14th paddle in 2024 and has been going from strength to strength since its inception in 2011.
The three races (BRC20, BRC30 and BRC50) have classes for men, women, juniors , kayak, Canadian and teams. On Saturday paddlers compete in the 20km BRC20 from Mareeba to Bilwon as individuals, pairs or relay teams of 4. BRC50 paddlers complete the first leg of their marathon on Saturday along the same course. On Sunday the premier event continues from Bilwon to Kuranda, a distance of 30km (BRC30/BRC50). BRC50H competitors change to a different craft for the second day.

Craft hire
Tinaroo Canoe Club have a range of skis and canoes available for hire. ‘Fly in racers’ have first priority. Contact Terry through our facebook page to arrange hire.
